Box Seat Observations
I’m gonna begin this week’s by talking about something completely unrelated to our league. It’s one of my favorite parts about football, and it’s none other than
Scorigami was coined by Jon Bois back in 2016, and it happens whenever an NFL game finishes with a final score that has never occurred before in league history. If you have a spare 21 and a half minutes I highly recommend watching Bois’ original video he made on the topic:
This season, we’ve already had two scorigamis! Last week, the 49ers beat the Jets 32-19 on MNF for their first win and the first scorigami of the 2024 season. This week, the Saints’ 44-19 drubbing of the Cowboys resulted in the second scorigami of the season (along with the Saints’ second win!). If you’d like to keep up with future scorigamis, there’s a twitter bot, @NFL_Scorigami, that tracks each NFL game’s scores live and updates with live chances of each game ending in scorigami. The website nflscorigami.com also provides the full up-to-date scorigami chart if you ever want to take a deep dive into some NFL lore.
Now, let’s talk fantasy football.
Congrats to Desmond for coming away victorious against your fellow Theta Tau Pi brother during the Matchup of the Week!
Nice work going 2/2 on predictions Will. If only your team’s record was the same…
We had some pretty interesting matchups around the league as well. After I went up more than 60 pts on Spud, I got to hear and witness his hopes of Nico and Saquon saving his week vanish over the course of SNF and MNF. Aaron and Austin put up a real barnburner this week, as both teams had the two lowest scores of the week in a tight race to stay alive for the season. The demise of Marvin Harrison Jr was greatly exaggerated, and helped lift Peyton’s squad over John’s, despite Peyton leaving an inactive Keenan Allen in his lineup.
It’s still early in the season, and teams with less-than-hot starts have plenty of time to turn it around. However, and it feels like we say this every year, the injuries are BRUTAL!
Like this picture doesn’t even include Deebo’s calf strain or that AJ Brown is likely to be out for multiple weeks. We are down bad, folks. Maybe this is a tipping point for some teams to look to next year, or others to double down and try and win it all this year?
Power Rankings
We didn’t have as much movement as last week, but congrats to Cami and Sarah for staying atop the league’s power rankings for a third week in a row!
For you math nerds out there (myself included), the power rankings are determined by: (Points Scored x2) + (Points Scored * Winning %) + (Points Scored * Winning % if played vs the median score of the week). I may look into using a different formula in future seasons if this one ends up becoming too static as the season progresses.

Week 3 Matchup of the Week
Concussion Protocol vs Nursing Home Knockers
We have our first repeat contestant on the Matchup of the Week! Conner, looking for his first win of the season, will face stiff competition against Eric, who looks to turn keep the heat . Will the potential returns of Jake Ferguson and Jordan Addison be enough to lift Conner to his first win of the season? Or will Eric prevail despite the loss of star RB Isiah Pacheco?
Parting Shots
I’ll be driving up to State College this weekend to evaluate some future prospects (celebrate my brother’s 21st birthday). Looking forward to doing some in-person scouting (drinking) for the 2025 Rookie Draft😎
